Cantor William W. Lipson Collection
Scope and Contents
The collection of Cantor William W. Lipson consists of sheet music, manuscript music, print music, and papers relating to his professional life as a cantor. Music books have been cataloged and relocated to Rare Books. William W. Lipson (1921-2009) was Cantor Emeritus of Beth David Congregation, Miami, where he served for 30 years. He was named a Fellow in the Cantors Assembly of America, of which he was a Charter Member, and was recognized with an honorary doctorate from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America for his lifetime of outstanding professional service. He passed away on September 22, 2009 in Atlanta.

Conditions Governing Access
Collections are available for supervised use in the Special Collections reading room during regular hours or by appointment. Users are required to complete a registration form and to comply with regulations governing use. Research assistance may be available but please email or phone first to set up an appointment. Photocopies or electronic copies of material in the collections may be provided within copyright limits but may not be ready immediately. In addition, selected materials are digitized and available electronically through the Digital Library.
